Before we arrange for an electrician to come out to the property, we need to know the nature of the fault. Some problems can be easily rectified by either us or you. To do this we need some basic information:
Is there a power cut? Look outside – are all the neighbours’ lights off? Are street lights off? If it is a power cut you can visit or call [regional/local power fault website or phone number] and find out when power will be restored.
Go to the Consumer Unit in the hallway. Lift the lid and look to see whether any of the breakers have tripped? If it has, it will be in the down position. Push the breaker up to reset it.
If the power goes off again, find out which appliance has caused the problem, e.g. a toaster or heater etc. in the shared spaces or in one of your fellow tenants’ rooms.
